The image to the left is a visual representation of the pathway of blood through the human body. It includes descriptive elements such as identification of the heart valves, heart chambers, and the major arteries and veins. Basically, blood enters the heart, is pumped to the lungs where oxygen molecules attach to red blood cells, it flows back to the heart where the oxygenated blood is pumped to the rest of the body. Although a rather basic concept, it is important for one to understand the function of blood in the human body before hoping to understand why heart complication such as heart attacks and sudden cardiac arrest occur.
This image from schoolcpr.com shows the progress the United States has made in making CPR training a high school graduation requirement. As seen on the map, Vermont passes this law in 2012. In my action plan (which can be found on the "My Action Plan" page), I hope to require basic CPR training at Rutland High School.
